To operate in Trinidad and Tobago, providers of post secondary and tertiary education must be registered in accordance with Chapter 39:06. Satisfying the requirements of the Criteria for Registration provides the assurance that registered institutions meet or exceed the minimum standards required for provision of quality education and training. Institutions that satisfy ACTT’s requirements for registration will be granted the status of a ‘registered institution’ and placed on a Register of Post Secondary and Tertiary Institutions maintained by the line Ministry.

Registration decisions are:
- registration for three (3) years
- registration for two (2) years
- registration for one (1) year
